And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.
Matthew 27:51 ESV
Sometimes, everything changes! It’s a whirlwind! It could stop you in your tracks!
That’s is probably what happened the first time a priest walked by the Holy of Holies right after Jesus died.
The Holy of Holies separated man from where the Ark of the Covenant resided. The High Priest and only he would go into the Holy of Holies, once a year. So understand, very few people saw the other side of the curtain in the history of the tabernacle and the temple.
But the moment that Jesus died, the curtain that separated the Holy Place, where the priests were allowed to go, and the Holy of Holies, where only the High Priest could go, was torn in two!
Again, imagine the first priest that walked by and saw that!
Understand that God likes to provide great symbolism for us. His tearing of the curtain symbolized that access straight to God wasn’t for a select few any longer, but for everyone who wanted to come in and spend time with Him.
And yet, do we take advantage of this? Do we spend time with the Lord? Or do we check off the box that we did our duty, went to church, said a prayer before a meal, didn’t kill anyone, etc..
Jesus died and now we could go straight to the Father in our time of need! Do you need to do this? God is more powerful and wise than anyone else. He will help you! He will come to your rescue. Spend time with Him!
Father, thank You for making a way for me. Thank You that You have made it very plain!
