And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
Luke 1:46-47 ESV
When Mary visited Elizabeth, they both gave praise to God. In Mary’s praise, what we also know as the Magnificant, Mary said something very important. She said that her spirit rejoiced in God her Savior.
Why would she say Savior?
Because everyone, including Mary, needs a Savior!
Although Mary was highly favored by God, and she was chosen to carry Jesus, the Messiah, she was still a sinner and needed to be saved.
Mary needed a Savior. Just like you and me need a Savior. And just like everyone else in the world.
Just one sin keeps you out of the running to be sinless. And if you have sin, God has to deal with it. He will judge sin.
But Jesus, our Savior, takes our sin away when we ask for forgiveness and ask Him to be our Lord and Savior.
As a result, we are sinless to God the Father.
Do you, like Mary, identify your need for a Savior?
There will be a time when you won’t have the choice to make. So make the right choice while you can.
Father, thank You for a way out of a life of sin. Thank You for forgiveness and mercy and being able to accept Jesus as our Savior.
