32 Then David said to Abigail, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me, 33 and blessed be your discernment, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodshed and from avenging myself by my own hand.
1 Samuel 25:32-33 NASB
It’s a true blessing when we receive discernment in certain situations. It is just as special when God uses others to help us understand situations and get discernment through their counsel.
When it comes, are you open and able to hear what is said? If David wouldn’t have been able to receive and listen to Abigail, he would have made a decision that bothered him the rest of his life or even put him in bad standing in the eyes of all Israel.
You don’t have to trust and obey every word that is given to you. Many times, people say things and they are impulsive and highly emotional when they say those things. But we should always stay open and ask ourselves if what was said, is something that we should pay attention to.
Lord, thank You for times when You speak to us. Help us to discern Your desires when You move directly in our lives and when You speak through the wisdom of others.
