7 Woe to the world because of offenses. For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes. 8 If your hand or your foot causes your downfall, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire.
Matthew 18:7-8 NASB
Matthew tells us that “stumbling blocks” are going to get in our way, it is inevitable.
In response, we should be ready and prepared to deal with these stumbling blocks when they come into our lives. This means that we should stay aware and vigilant to identify stumbling blocks, or anything that would cause us to get trapped into a situation that would not be pleasing to God.
This means that we should also be aware of any stumbling blocks that we ourselves are putting in front of others.
I need to be purposeful and a servants at all times. In a world that always values down time and rest, I need to understand that my actions can effect anyone at anytime. I need to reflect and evaluate how I live in every moment.
Lord, I want to identify stumbling blocks in my life before I get to them. But if I don’t, help me to get up and refocus on You.
Help me to not be a stumbling block to others either.
