So when the Lord your God gives you relief from all the enemies who surround you in the land he is giving you as an inheritance, you must wipe out the memory of the Amalekites from under heaven—do not forget!
Deuteronomy 25:18 NET
Some like to imagine God as a nice old grandfatherly type person who is always smiling and just wants to love on you.
And He is!
But He is also fair, just and righteous! Righteousness causes Him to deal with sin and rebellion.
When the Israelites travelled to the Promised Land, the Amalekites treated them wrongly.
Because God is fair and just, He didn’t forget to deal with them.
God loves you. He sent His only Son to die for your sins. But He will deal fairly and justly with you too.
This means that if you come before Him with Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then His righteous judgement declares you not guilty because the blood of Jesus cleanses you from all unrighteousness.
But…if you go before Him and Jesus isn’t your Lord and Savior, then His righteous judgement declares you guilty. And hell is where the guilty go.
Know this, Jesus being your Lord and Savior means you come under His rule, His way of doing things.
Ultimately, the choice is yours. God doesn’t force you to accept or reject Jesus. You get to make the eternal decision here and now.
Choose wisely. Now, you have life and death before you. At the end, there are no second chances.
Father, I don’t understand why anyone would not choose life with You. But for those who are undecided or not fully committed, help me to be a light that points to You.
Peace
Todd
