Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes.
Haggai 1:5-6 ESV
Is God active in your life? Yes, He is! He gets your attention. The question is, do you listen?
In Haggai, the Jews had returned to Jerusalem. The intention was to build the Temple of God back up after it was destroyed by the Babylonians.
But when they returned to their land, they focused on their own homes. They focused on their own gardens and crops. They lost sight of their mission of rebuilding the Temple.
As a result, God was getting their attention. And the way He was doing this was by withholding blessings in their lives.
They were doing what appeared to be all the right things, but they were always coming up short!
Later, in Haggai 1:8, He admonishes the people to build His house so He could be glorified.
Are you in the same boat as the people in Haggai’s time?
Are you busy doing, never really accomplishing anything, never really moving forward?
God wants you to build His house in your heart. He wants you to glorify Him. He wants you to put your focus back on Him.
This is actually a move from a loving God. He knows the best place for you is right in the middle of His will. He loves you so much, He will get your attention to live right.
In what areas of your life do you need to start putting God first? Don’t delay!
Father, thank You for Your blessings and mercy that are always more than I need. Thank You for loving me enough to get my attention so I can focus on You.
