Come and See

Scripture
37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 And Jesus turned and saw them following, and *said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?” 39 He *said to them, “Come, and you will see.”So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. John 1:37-39 NASB

Observation
After hearing Jesus speak, the disciples decided to follow Jesus. Jesus asked them, what do you seek? That is a question we all should ask ourselves. When we follow Jesus, why are we following, what do we seek?

The disciples asked a curious question, “where are you staying?”  It was early, so they weren’t really interested in His lodging. They were wanting to spend more time with Him. Jesus invited them to “come and see.”

Jesus always invites us to spend more time with Him. We have to make the decision to stay in His presence.

Application
The question is not do I spend time with Jesus. The question is do I spend enough time in His presence?

Like the disciples, I need to be purposeful. Do I seek Him or do I expect for Jesus to seek me out. I hope that my passion is that I’m following hard after Him. It should be my passion, the greatest desire of my heart.

Prayer
Lord, I desire You more than anything else in this life. I pray that my life reflects this. When I spend time with You, let it be so desirable that I wouldn’t want anything else.

Peace
Todd
