David was told, “The Lord has blessed the family of Obed-Edom and everything he owns because of the ark of God.” So David went and joyfully brought the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David.
2 Samuel 6:12 NET
King David wanted to move the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. For some reason, he didn’t inquire about the way to really do it correctly. Instead, they put the Ark on a new cart.
On the way to Jerusalem, the oxen stumbled and David’s friend tried to make sure that the Ark didn’t fall off the new cart. As a result, he touched the Ark, something no one should do, and died.
David was upset and lost the desire to bring the Ark to Jerusalem. So, he left the Ark at a nearby home, Obed-Edom’s. As a result, everyone recognized that Obed was being blessed in everything he did.
It was enough to convince David that he needed to bring the Ark to Jerusalem, where his palace was located.
The Ark represented the Presence of God on the Earth. Now, on this side of the Resurrection, the Presence of God is established in our hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit takes up residence inside of us!
Having the Presence of God inside of us brings a blessing that is far greater than Obed-Edom ever experienced.
Are you allowing the Presence of God to reign in your life? Or are you leaving it somewhere else, like David did, for whatever reason?
When you don’t fully embrace the Presence of God, you are missing out on the fullness of what He has for you!
God is still blessing those who allow His Presence to have the most important place in their life.
Father, if I don’t keep You as the most important priority of my life, please make me aware of my failings and bring me back to You. You are everything to me.
