For if anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”
Mark 8:38 NET
Mark 8:38 is pretty clear! You don’t want Jesus to be ashamed of you in His Second Coming. You want Him to advocate for you.
So how do we show we are ashamed of Him?
We show that we are ashamed of Him when we don’t live out our faith in everyday life.
When we are closet Christians, we are ashamed. When we refuse to speak up for what is right in God’s eyes, we are ashamed. When we worry about what others might say or do to us because of our faith, we are guilty of being ashamed.
And ultimately, when we deny Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives, we are ashamed.
The issue is one of Lordship. When someone is your Lord, He calls all the shots. You live under His set of rules!
Many people want to not go to Hell, but they want to live the way they want to live here too!
That is not the way it works! Jesus is not their Lord when they live like that!
Jesus is Lord when you follow what His Word says. He is Lord when you walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, which He said He would send to us when He ascended to Heaven. He is Lord when you deny yourself and live for Him.
Reflect on who you are living for right now! It makes all the difference in this life and the next!
Father, thank You for showing me how to live through the Word and the Holy Spirit. Help me to honor You in everything I do.
