Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6 NET
Anxiety seems to be a common element in human life. It must have been a thing during Paul’s life, as well as ours today.
Being anxious doesn’t accomplish anything. It really only causes the person with anxiety to focus on something that they can’t work out on their own. Thus, we are anxious, worry and stress…when you can’t do anything about it. It’s like we trust in anxiety.
But Paul said, instead of allowing anxiety to grip you, make your petitions known to God. Now, He can actually do something about your anxious situation. But it requires a letting go and trust.
You can have anxiety if you choose to manage it on your own, or you can give it to God and trust Him in the situation. He is stronger, more powerful. More resourceful than you.
He’s been there and done that! And because He loves you, He will come through for you. Trust Him!
Trust in any relationship comes from knowing the other person. The more time you spend with the Lord, the more you see how He operates in your life and the more you grow to trust in Him.
There is NO substitute for spending time with the Lord. There is NO substitute for prayer and reading His Word. When you do, you will learn about Him, how He operates, His character.
Start today and build a life of trust in the Lord.
Lord, thank You for peace that only comes from knowing You. Help me to turn my attention and focus towards You in all things.
