Glorify God • Magnify Him in this World!

Always Thanksgiving

“He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me;
And to him who orders his way aright I shall show the salvation of God.”
Psalms 50:23 NASB

Living for God is 24/7. You never take a break or rest from it. But it is not burdensome. Those who truly walk in the ways of the Lord find true peace and joy. Those who truly experience the presence of God don’t want to give it up for anything.

But as we live in this world, we share our time with commitments, our families, jobs, activities. When life gets hectic, the thing that suffers is our relationship with God. We reason, He will always be there…He understands…This is important too… Sometimes we even get real spiritual about it.

But the key is to not ever take part of things other than church or spiritual activities. (There is something to not filling you calendar/schedule with too many things). Instead, as we do all those things, we should do them in the proper order and in relation to a good and strong focus on God. How? By staying in an attitude of thanksgiving and aligning everything we do to God.

Thanksgiving is simply being thankful to God. The Jews had an actual sacrifice of thanksgiving. So it is a little bit more involved than just saying “thanks Lord.” There is action, reflection, praise and purpose behind it. When you walk this way, regardless of where you are or what you are doing, it is a lot easier to stay in the presence of God and focus on Him.

As you walk this way, it is easier to order your way, your life. Being thankful helps you to focus on what is good and right in your life instead of staying grumpy and negative.

Do I spend time in thanksgiving to God? I’m not talking about saying a little prayer. I’m talking about, on my way to work, walking down the halls, when I’m in meetings, when I’m at my desk? What would I have to do to live this way? I can’t exclude myself from the world. But this only comes from staying in close relationship to God and being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Lord, I want to live in thanksgiving always. I don’t want to just say a little prayer,but I want my mind and heart to continually go to you.
