But He replied to them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? Matthew 16:2-3 NASB
We deal with and adjust to signs everyday. We read signs when we drive, enter a new building, try to read a person or situation, and so forth.
Sometimes the signs are subtile and we have to slow down and look for them, other times they are right in our face.
The questions are, are you paying attention to them and what do you do with them?
Jesus told the religious leaders that they weren’t reading the signs of the times. Here was the Messiah they were all looking for and they were missing Him because they weren’t paying attention.
Just like driving in your car and missing your exit because you were talking on your phone or listening to the radio, are you missing Jesus because you haven’t been paying close enough attention?
Don’t miss Him! Slow down! Open your eyes and look at what is happening all around you, in your life and in the world.
Then like every other sign you come into contact with, adjust to Him.
What are you missing out on because you aren’t paying attention?
Father, give me eyes to see exactly what You want me to see.
