Now, do not be upset and do not be angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me ahead of you to preserve life!
Genesis 45:5 NET
Having the right perspective can make all the difference in your situation.
It can mean the difference between failure and another opportunity. It can make the difference between being angry or having mercy. It can make the difference between the world being against you or God directing your path.
If anyone had a right to be upset at the way he was treated by family, it was Joseph. His own brothers sold him into slavery.
But here in this Scripture, he acknowledges that God was in control and was setting things up in the background to save his whole family from starvation and ultimately death.
Joseph was able to see things differently because he trusted God. He didn’t hold on to bitterness, but instead looked for God’s hand in everything!
Shouldn’t we do that too?
Do you believe that God is all-powerful that He can cause any situation, no matter what it looks like, to work out according to His ways?
He is, and He does!
Stay close to God. Obey His Word. Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Pray to see things from His perspective.
And remember God is in control…always!
God—His way is perfect;
the word of the Lord is pure.
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. Psalms 18:30 NET
Father, help me to see things from your viewpoint. Help me to remember that You are in control no matter what. Keep me in the center of Your will and lead me on the path that You have set before me. What else could I want?
