6 A voice says, “Call out.”
Then he answered, “What shall I call out?”
All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades,
When the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:6-8 NASB
There is so much in this world that we can be drawn to. Our eyes see beauty and we tend to move towards that. But we must remember that any beauty that the world offers is temporary and will fade.
Isaiah, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said, “the word of our God stands forever.”
The question is where do you want to devote yourself? Do you want a temporary joy, followed by misery? Or would you rather focus and seek the Word of God that will provide peace and joy for an eternity?
This is also important, since the Word of God stands forever, we can know that His promises, found in His Word, lasts forever too.
I need to settle in my heart, what is more important, a temporary or eternal joy. When I lay it all out and reflect on what God has done for me, it is a no brainer to live for the Lord. The key here is to live it! The fruit I produce should say I trust in the Lord, my joy is in Him.
I should also get to know the Lord’s promises for me. The Word of God is filled with promises. If His Word lasts forever, then God’s promises last forever.
Lord, I want to know You more through Your Word. Help me to understand and apply what You have written about Your people. Let Your Word fill me with peace and joy as I read it everyday.
