When God saw their actions—they turned from their evil way of living!—God relented concerning the judgment he had threatened them with and he did not destroy them.

Nineveh was headed towards doomsday fast! God, through the words of Jonah, gave them 40 days.
But something incredible happened! All the people turned towards God and He relented.
They didn’t just turn in their minds and hearts. They turned in their actions. They repented and started living right.
When God saw that, He had mercy on them. A whole city, big enough that it took three days to walk through, was spared.
That’s what God really wants. He wants lives that are right with Him. He will judge sin and unrighteousness, but He will show mercy to those who humble themselves.
It would serve every believer right to take time and evaluate their lives on a regular basis. Ask, “is there anything in my life that is not pleasing to God?”
If Jesus is your Lord and Savior, then you come under His rule. His ways are what you should concern yourself with.
And this comes from spending time with Him.
Father, help me to live a life that is pleasing to You. Show me the things in my life that I need to repent of. Thank You for Your mercy.
