“The experts in the law and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat. Therefore pay attention to what they tell you and do it. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they teach.
Matthew 23:2-3 NET
Your source for living a godly life is not the example of a pastor, missionary or some other Christian leader.
Because men are not perfect. No matter what position they hold in church or some religious organization.
The source for living a godly life must come from God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.
When men are involved, they have to get passed their ego, emotions, fear, insecurities, etc. All of these things can affect their following and proclaiming the Word of God accurately. That’s why your dependence needs to be on Jesus. He is the only one who is perfect.
It doesn’t mean that the Lord wouldn’t use a sermon, talk or even a counseling session. But it does mean you should do your own due diligence in searching out God’s Word yourself.
Again, don’t let what some so called Christian did to you or told you be the reason, good or bad, that determines your relationship with Jesus. Your relationship with Jesus is personal.
Read the Word, pray and spend time with Him yourself. You will see that He is loving, merciful and accepting.
Father, I pray for those who have a view of living for You that is not healthy because of what someone in the past said or did to them. Heal their heart and mind and reveal Yourself to them.
