“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.
John 15:1-2 NASB
Owning a fruit tree, I can tell you that it is a big disappointment when you see buds starting to form, but they don’t ever set and fruit. It’s like the excitement and expectation of seeing something good happen, fail.
I wonder if that is the way the Father sees us sometimes? Jesus says that He takes the branches that don’t bear fruit away. Where? That is another discussion, but what do you usually do with dead branches?
But the other side of this Scripture is that the Father prunes the branches so that they bear more fruit. If a branch could talk, I’m sure they wouldn’t like the feeling of the pruining. But in the long run, it is better for the Kingdom of God.
Which type of branch are you? Are you being thrown away or are you being pruined?
If you are being thrown away, you need to get right with God before it is too late! If you are being pruined, and things are tough, rely more on the vine. Tap into Jesus more. Pray, read the Word, go to church, listen to messages online, seek Him. He is pruining you to glorify Him.
Again, it doesn’t feel good when it is happening, but He knows what He is doing. Trust in the Lord.
Lord, help me to bear fruit for Your Kingdom. When things happen that I don’t understand, help me to trust in You. You never let me down.
