These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 NASB
Jesus doesn’t try to pull a fast one over us. He laid it out plainly for His disciples and for us in the Gospels. He let us know ahead of time that there were going to be tough times in our lives, tough enough to be called tribulation.
But besides Jesus wanting His followers to know that these times were coming, He want us to know that we can take courage that He has overcome the world.
Since He overcame, we overcome. He still said we were going to have tribulations, but we aren’t going into them not knowing how it will all turn out. We know the end. We overcome! That’s it! That’s all!
Can I settle the fact in my mind that whatever I’m going through, it is temporary for this world? I will overcome.
I can be at peace in that. Because this is important… How do I live while I’m in the midst of all the junk…the tribulations of life? I need to trust and be at peace that the Father has this. He does!
Lord, when things all around me are crazy, help me to be at peace. Help me to know and stand on the faith that You have already overcome. It’s a done deal!
