32 Then Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded, ‘Let an omerful of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread that I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”
Exodus 16:32 NASB
The Israelites would easily forget how God came through for them. But God wanted future generations to remember how He provided for them.
This jar would be with the people for a long time. The Bible doesn’t say that the priests pulled it out, but there must have been some way that future generations knew it wasn’t just some old myth, there was proof!
The Father often gives us something that we can go back to and remember His provision. It might be different things for different scenarios, but we have them…an object, a person in our life, a memory…it reminds us that God was moving in our lives.
Do you look back and reflect on the ways that God provided for you in the past? We don’t always do it when things are going well. This exercise usually happens after we’ve been in a situation for a while…then God triggers something that reminds us of how He came through.
But you don’t have to wait for the situation or hard times. Instead, settle down, take time to reflect on how God has come through for you. If you are inclined, you might even want to write it down somewhere, a tangible book of remembrance for you.
Lord, You always come through for us. How many times have you moved in our lives behind the scenes and we don’t even realize it? Thank You for being active in our lives, for caring so much to want the very best for us.
