45 For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; thus you shall be holy, for I am holy.’”
Leviticus 11:45 NASB
Holiness has received a bad wrap over the years. It can devolve into legalism if it’s not done with the right heart and focus on Jesus.
So as a result, many have left the idea of being holy behind and now, look just like the world. We are supposed to be in the world, not of the world.
Today, non-believers couldn’t distinguish between a believer and non-believer. Why would a non-believer want to be “saved” with all the “rules and regulations” of being a Christian when there is no difference?
God’s people are supposed to be different! We are His, set apart. Holiness is important to the Lord. People died in the Old Testament because they didnt walk in the Lord’s holiness.
What does that say for us today? Is God pleased with how Christians have embraced the world, or is He still looking for holiness?
Holiness means set apart. Are you living your life set apart for the things of God?
Don’t look for a list of do’s and don’ts . Instead, dive deep into the Word of God. Seek His face daily through prayer. As you align your life and your will with the ways of God, you will choose to live a holy life.
You won’t want to disappoint Him because you love Him and desire to please Him. You’ll know that it is the only way you want to live.
Turn off the TV, put down the smart phone, make time to get close to God. Be purposeful. Do it from a hearts desire, and you will start to see the joy of living set apart, being holy.
Lord, help us to love what You love and desire to be holy, a people set apart for You. Help us to remove those things in our lives that are not of You so that we can align our lives by Your will.
