He must increase, but I must decrease.
John 3:30 NASB
John the Baptist understood that his popularity would decrease as Jesus came on the scene. He didn’t care about that at all.
John was living on a very different level than most. He wanted all God had for Him. And that meant coming under the authority of Jesus Christ. It didn’t matter that he wouldn’t be the center of attention. He just wanted to be pleasing to God.
As John’s popularity with the people decreased, his relationship with God increased because he was focused and determined to grow in the things of God.
Are you growing in the things of God? If there was a spiritual report card for you, what would you receive?
You have to be determined…purposeful…faithful…consistent. Give God His proper place in your life and you will never be disappointed. Remember, what you do for God, how close you get to Him, lasts for eternity!
Lord, my greatest desire is to grow in You. I desire to know You more and more. Help me to prioritize my life. Help me to see the things if this world passing away.
