Glorify God • Magnify Him in this World!

Consider Your Ways!

Scripture
6 You have sown much, but harvest little; you eat, but there is not enough to be satisfied; you drink, but there is not enough to become drunk; you put on clothing, but no one is warm enough; and he who earns, earns wages to put into a purse with holes.”

7 Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Consider your ways!
Haggai 1:6-7 NASB

Observation
The Lord sent a message to the leaders of Jerusalem who had returned to rebuild the temple. He asked them to stop and consider what they were doing. Life had resumed for everyone, but they had not completed the House of the Lord. The temple laid desolate, God was not glorified.

As a result of their lack of reverence and attention to God, He pulled back on blessing them. They could work hard, but it wouldn’t amount to much.

God is a jealous God. He will not tolerate someone else or something else getting the glory He deserves. But more than that, He does deserve it!

He blesses His people! He gets our attention when we are stubborn and seek our own ways. But for those who live upright and put Him first, you will be blessed!

Application
What have you put before the Lord? What have you put before His Word and His commands?

We no longer worship at a temple, but the Apostle Paul said that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. If God doesn’t change, and He doesn’t, won’t He want His temple, You, to be built to honor and glorify Him? Are you doing that? Because He will be glorified!

Don’t be stubborn and have to learn the hard way! The people of Israel and their relationship with the Lord give us an example to live by. When they put God first, it was evident. When they didn’t, it was evident!

God wants to bless His people! Are you His?

Prayer
Lord, forgive us when we put our desires before Yours. Show us Your ways. Help us to know Your desires, that we would put those first in our lives. When we do, everything else works out perfectly.

Peace
Todd
