Glorify God • Magnify Him in this World!

Consequences of Not Knowing God’s Word

Scripture
And the anger of the Lord burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down there for his irreverence; and he died there by the ark of God.
2 Samuel 6:7 NASB

Observation
One of David’s men died. He wasn’t doing anything wrong in his own eyes. In fact, he thought he was protecting and stabilizing the Ark. So why did God strike him dead?

He was irreverent because the Ark was supposed to be carried a certain way. God had setup this way long ago. When David and his men decided to move the Ark to Jerusalem, they did what they thought they should do. They should have read God’s Word to find out what they needed to do instead.

Many people live life thinking that they are doing the “right” thing. But if they are not following God’s Word, what they do is in vain. They might even find themselves being irreverent to what God says and desires.
