Glorify God • Magnify Him in this World!

Your Response Required!

Scripture
56 and he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” 57 But they cried out with a loud voice, and covered their ears and rushed at him with one impulse.
Acts 7:56-57 NASB

Observation
Stephen was OK in front of his Jewish brothers until He dropped the truth on them!

Chapter 7 is a history lesson of the call of God on the Jews until verse 51. There, Stephen tells them that they are “always resisting the Holy Spirit” and thus, missing what God has for them.

Their reaction was extreme, angry, hate filled. They rushed him, took him out of the city and stoned him. Stephen was the first Christian martyr.

We live in a world where people don’t want to hear the truth of God’s love, mercy, correction, discipline… Why? Because they have to respond to it in one way or another.

Responding to embrace Jesus means coming under His Lordship. People don’t want to give up what they want. They don’t want to give up making all the decisions for their life…calling all the shots. When you embrace Jesus, you die to yourself.

Check your response to Jesus today. Does His call on Your life, the direction He wants you to take in life, give you pause or make you think twice about following Him? Or do you FULLY embrace Him?

Application
I know I wouldnt respond to Jesus like the Jews did to Stephen. But, would I be passive about His leading? I want to always be obedient and follow what the Lord has for me. Sometimes that might lead me to get out of my comfort zone, but He knows best.

The point is to FULLY embrace what Jesus has for me. I want to do this with joy and expectation!

Prayer
Lord, help me to listen and obey Your voice fully. There is nothing more important to me than this. You know best and I can trust that You will always be with me. Help me during those times when I need a little faith push. I long to hear “well done.”

Peace
Todd
